Although I didn’t get to practice as much on my touch typing exercises, I can definitely feel an improvement. From composing emails to writing passwords, I am becoming more efficient.

Didn’t get to practice as much as I had wanted, but I can definitely feel and see an improvement in my typing skills. I’m consistently hitting 60+ wpm and in one test I hit 90+wpm.

Video Updates

It doesn’t relate to touch typing, but I thought I’d update you on a skill that I had not intentionally set out to learn. At the start of this year I wanted to try out bouldering, it turned out to be something I really enjoyed and I climbed almost every week of the year.

Learning Touch-Typing: Week 2

Week 2

I managed to finish the course on Typing Club. It was a great resource and it was completely free! I’ve managed to speed up my typing in just two weeks and I’m now using the correct form.

What Did I Learn?

How to properly position my fingers for numbers and well as symbols.

What Did I Struggle With?

Numbers, I need to figure out a way to remember what fingers are used for the correct numbers on the keyboard.

An interesting stat.

From the picture above, my top 5 weakest letters are:

  • f

  • x

  • b

  • q

  • z

I’m surprised the letter f is there as it’s the resting position of the two fingers. I need to practice on the accuracy of these keys.

Learning Touch-Typing: Week 1

Week 1

This week I wanted to take a break from learning jazz piano and focus on learning a new skill; touch typing. Composing an email, writing new content and typing in passwords all require you to use a keyboard, if I can get good at this skill it’ll make life so much easier. I’ve learned a lot in just one week and I will share my findings with you soon.

What Did I Struggle With?

Starting all over again. Before learning how to touch type, my technique was all over the place. I was fast but I made a lot of mistakes. Now that I’m strengthening my foundations and learning the correct technique, I can see and feel a huge improvement in my typing.

What’s your speed?
